World Peace Day

On Wednesday 21 September pupils, staff and parents of Aloha College gathered together to celebrate International World Peace Day. International Peace Day was set up by the United Nations to give people of all nations a day to share acts of peace together. The school embraced the invitation to contribute to the world’s progress towards peace by wearing white and participating in a range of activities to build pupils’ knowledge and understanding of the concept of world peace.

Pupils from Nursery to Year 13, all dressed in white, celebrated World Peace Day on 21 September. The Head Students started off the assembly by giving a short talk on what the day was about. Children said “Peace” in all the different languages represented in the school and some read their own poetry. There was a 2-minute silent reflection then John Lennon’s “Imagine” was played while 4 large white helium balloons were released into the sky and the younger children waved a white dove template, on which they had all written their own definition of peace.Senior School children held 2 huge white doves which had been made by the Art department. All children brought in 2 euros for charity.Teachers were all very proud of the effort made by the children and the pleasure they showed at perhaps being able to contribute to Peace in the World – an emotional moment
