“Going that extra mile in Maths”

Following the great success of our Maths and ICT Enrichment programme in October, Mr McTear and Mrs Brice awarded prizes today to students who had entered correct solutions to the Maths and ICT Problems of the Month.

Winner of the Maths Problem of the Month was Emma Olde Boerrigter 9PMC. Highly commended awards went to Vladimir Bagratashvili 7LDR, Amelia Dunbar 7PSA, Olga Okhotinskaya 7WEG.

Winner of the ICT Problem of the Month was Steven Ye Y11. A highly commended prize went to Imran Sibille Y7.

Mr McTear also introduced the exciting new challenge for November; students have to create a Flowol control sequence to control a playground Ferris Wheel. The November Maths and ICT Problems of the Month are posted up in the corridors of the Maths Dept. Maths contestants were reminded that they must supply a written solution with clear working out and be able to explain how they did it to Mrs Brice.
