| Students follow a 2-year IGCSE examinations course, following the Cambridge University syllabuses. The curriculum comprises a core of English, Spanish, Mathematics, Sciences, PE and PSHE, and an option programme where choices can be made from the following subjects: French, German, History, Historia (in Spanish), Geography, Sports Science, Art, Music, Drama, Business Studies, Economics and ICT.
The majority of students take two of the three Sciences, (Physics, Chemistry and Biology). The English and Spanish First language courses provide the opportunity to take a Literature IGCSE in each subject. In addition, they have a double lesson of Physical Education and their tutorial lesson. All students at Aloha normally take a minimum of 9 IGCSE subjects.
IGCSE: (International General Certificate of Secondary Education). This international version of the GCSE is a more testing examination - one which encourages high academic standards. It is a balanced international curriculum with a practical approach to teaching and learning. The curriculum is suitable for students of all nationalities and different levels of ability. It provides an ideal preparation for higher level courses such as the International Baccalaureate, and for vocational training and employment. |
