Eco School

The Green Flag that proudly flies at the entrance to Aloha College Marbella is far more than a symbol. It is a clear statement of our commitment to sustainability, environmental responsibility and eco-conscious education.

As a recognised Eco-School, we are proud to embed these values into both our curriculum and the everyday life of our school community.

As you walk through our campus, signs of our sustainability commitment are everywhere: Vibrant murals made from recycled materials, a thriving biodiverse garden, water-saving fountains, spotless playgrounds, and a hydroponics planter underway. These visible efforts support our mission to protect and enhance the world around us. But change also happens in subtle ways: we’ve introduced a meat-free day in the canteen to cut our carbon footprint, and switched entirely to LED lighting to conserve energy and reduce waste.

What is an Eco-School?

An Eco-School is an educational institution that integrates environmental responsibility into every aspect of its teaching and operations. The aim is to inspire young people to actively care for their world and to lead meaningful change through collective action. We are now on track to receive our second Eco-Schools Green Flag, an internationally recognised award for excellence in environmental education and practice.

A student-led movement

Our environmental journey is driven by the energy and vision of the Student Eco Committee, who play a central role in leading initiatives and raising awareness. Among the changes they've helped introduce are:

  • A school-wide shift to reusable water bottles
  • Eliminating single-use yoghurt tubs at lunch
  • Launching a school vegetable garden, now growing produce for our kitchen

These are just some of the many steps we're taking to live our values of sustainability, respect, and global citizenship.
