PSHEE
The Personal, Social, Health, Emotional and Economic Education (PSHEE) programme at Aloha College Marbella supports students from Year 1 to Year 13, helping them navigate the challenges of growing up in today’s world. It equips them with the knowledge, understanding and life skills needed to lead healthy and happy lives and to become confident, responsible global citizens.
The programme is carefully tailored to reflect the needs of our students, the ethos of the school and the context of our international community.
PSHEE is delivered by a dedicated team of trained staff, giving the subject the status and importance it deserves. Lessons are supported by our Emotional Intelligence (EQ) programme, which nurtures resilience, empathy, focus and mindfulness, promoting both mental and physical well-being.
Why PSHEE Matters
Through a carefully structured spiral curriculum, students develop:
- Emotional literacy and self-esteem
- The ability to form and maintain healthy relationships
- Decision-making, risk awareness, and financial understanding
- A sense of personal responsibility and social contribution
- Strategies to manage peer influence and media impact
- The resilience to navigate challenges and maintain well-being
We believe that personal development is a shared responsibility and work closely with parents through regular workshops and information sessions.
How PSHEE is Delivered
In the Primary School, weekly PSHEE lessons run from Year 1 to Year 6, with key themes also introduced in the Foundation Stage. Each year group follows the same topic simultaneously, adapted appropriately to age and stage.
In Secondary, students have one timetabled PSHEE lesson per week. Key topics are further reinforced through themed assemblies and collaborative activities.
Specialist sessions are also delivered by external professionals, including healthcare experts, mental health practitioners, police representatives, study skills mentors and first aid trainers, ensuring depth, relevance and real-world context.
Our teaching approach is interactive and reflective, using methods such as discussion, debate, role play, group work and presentations. The programme promotes critical thinking, personal reflection and the development of values in line with our school's ethos.
